Jamshedpur film festival to begin with ‘Slumdog Millionaire’

Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) (PTI): Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire will be the inaugural movie at the 14th Jamshedpur International Film festival beginning here on March 14.

The week-long festival, hosted jointly by a local film society “Celluloid Chapter” and Tata steel, will have Indian Panorama comprising five movies, including Annirudha Roychowdhury directed Bengali film Antoheen, Rituporno Ghosh directed The Last Lear, Anjan Dutta directed Cholo Let’s Go (Bengali), Dasvidaniya of Shashant Shah and Mumbai Meri Jaan of Nishikant Kamat.

President Celluloid Chapter, Sanjay Choudhury, told a press conference on Monday special catogories films from Film and TV Institute, Pune and Satyajit Ray Film Institute, Kolkata would also be screened in the film festival.

Czech film Revel Love will be opening film of the international category, Choudhury said adding a total of 54 foreign films from France, Norway, Germany, Israel, Turkey, Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Columbia, Russia and Iran would be screened.
